This Koi was evaluated as ‘slightly thin, but otherwise everything was wonderful’ and was 34 cm long and a Tosai produced by Matsue Nishikigoi Center. Mr. Sasaki purchased it at the spring sale of Akita Fish Centre Co., Ltd. and has been keeping it in his 20-ton pond at home since then. The Junior champion was a 20bu Taisho Sanshoku from Hiroshi Watanabe, a Tosai produced by Nishimeme Nishikigoi Centre. He acquired it last autumn and entrusted its care to the same shop.
The roadside station overlooking Mt. Chokai, also known as ‘Dewa Fuji,’ is affectionately called ‘Hamanasu no Sato’ and is a popular roadside station in the prefecture with a large supermarket, bathing facilities, and a local product direct sales centre. It was crowded with visitors throughout the event, who enjoyed viewing the koi in the tubs.
