Fujimoto Shuji Depicts the Beauty of Nishikigoi
“Koi no Tennyo Mai Art WEB Exhibition” Now Open

Digital landscape artist Fujimoto Shuji, based in Shimonoseki City, Yamaguchi Prefecture, has released a web exhibition titled “Koi no Tennyo Mai Art WEB Exhibition,” featuring 30 works created with the motif of Nishikigoi, imagining them as celestial maidens dancing in the sky. The exhibition opened online on Monday, September 1st.
Fujimoto creates digital landscape art under the themes of “Travel Scenes,” “Nostalgia,” and “Mental Landscapes.” He specializes in “Travel Scene Art,” which expresses the primal landscapes and natural aesthetics inherent to Japanese people using white lines and nostalgic color palettes.
Having worked with Nishikigoi in his twenties, he was deeply impressed by their high artistic quality. In recent years, those memories and emotions resurfaced, inspiring him to express his passion for Nishikigoi through art, which has now come to fruition with this exhibition.
The theme of this exhibition is “Koi no Tennyo Mai” Fujimoto captures the beautiful and graceful moment of Nishikigoi swimming as if they were celestial maidens dancing underwater, depicting their vibrant colors and dynamism amidst tranquility. Nishikigoi are currently gaining international recognition, and Fujimoto hopes to further convey their charm to people overseas by making these 30 works freely accessible.
Regarding future plans, Fujimoto stated, “I would like to promote this as original Nishikigoi art from Japan to the world.”
The exhibition will be available until Saturday, December 20th. Wall hangings of the exhibited works can be purchased on Yahoo Shopping (zakka29un gallery).
