This year’s Yokohama Cup was an underdog victory!
A seminar on “Minuma Goshiki” was also held

The Yokohama Cup was held again this year on Sports Day (October 13th), an event that boasts high popularity among the numerous events hosted by Yokohama Nishikigoi (Representative: Takuro Okiku).
For the Yokohama Cup, entry koi sold in three price ranges—¥80,000, ¥50,000, and ¥30,000—in July were raised in the store’s house pond, and their finished quality was judged. In the past, judging was often done by a few hobbyists who had not entered koi that year. This time, as a first attempt, a joint judging session was conducted by all visiting hobbyists and Kenichi Wada from Koi Minuma, who was invited as a seminar instructor held simultaneously. Participants voted for two koi per price category, and the awards were determined accordingly. The overall grand champion was a Tancho Showa owned by Akio Nagaoka, which made a remarkable comeback from the ¥30,000 category.
Following the Yokohama Cup, a Nishikigoi seminar titled “Minuma Goshiki Edition” was held. Details will be featured in a future issue of this magazine.
