The 60th Fukui Nishikigoi Show

Amidst unstable weather, the 109 entries were judged by three individuals: Yuki Hokosaki, Director of the Fukui Inland Water Fisheries Center; Kazuya Sato (Best Fish Farm); and Takumi Miya (Miyatora Koi Farm). As a result of the judging, the grand champion was awarded to Toshinori Sono’s over 80 Bu Showa Sanshoku.
Described as “a dignified body shape, rich skin and red patterns, and the bold, characteristic sumi of Showa, making it worthy of the overall grand champion title,” this koi is 10 years old, 94 cm, and bred by Dainichi Koi Farm. Toyota Store (Aichi). Sono mentioned that he fell in love with it at a competition held by Kachi Koi Farm (Sabae) in November 2019 and purchased it. At the time, the sumi was hardly visible, and the red patterns were not yet prominent, but he sensed its potential.
