The 25th Tokyo Branch Nishikigoi Koi Show

Date: April 11–12, 2026
Venue: Shinjuku Central Park, Fun More Time Plaza (Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo)

The venue, Shinjuku Central Park, is located right at the foot of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building No. 1, a location that can truly be described as “the very heart of Tokyo.” Blessed with fine weather, this year’s show experienced unseasonably hot weather, particularly on the first day, with a temperature of 27°C recorded in central Tokyo. Strong sunlight poured down.
Judging was conducted by five experts: Chairman Futoshi Mano (Dainichi Koi Farm), Former Chairman Hisashi Hirasawa (Marudo Koi Farm), Vice Chairman Mitsunori Isa (Isa Koi Farm), Niigata Regional Head Taro Kataoka (Oya Fish Farm), and Yoshikazu Otsuka (Otsuka Koi Farm), all from the All Japan Nishikigoi Promotion Association. A lineup this luxurious for a prefecture-level show is unprecedented.
The Grand Champion title was awarded to a 60 bu Taisho Sanshoku exhibited by Mr. Hiroshi Yamamoto and bred by Marudo Koi Farm. It was bought in Niigata last autumn, and its rearing was entrusted to Marudo Koi Farm. For this show, it was entered as a two-year-old, 60 cm fish handled by Koizumi Koi Farm. Other top prizes were: Miyako Sakura Prize / 55 bu Tancho / Hiromi Furukawa; Mature Koi Champion / 55 bu Showa Sanshoku / Archie M. Luan; Adult Koi Champion / 50 bu Showa Sanshoku / Archie M. Luan; Young Koi Champion / 40 bu Taisho Sanshoku / Hiromi Furukawa; and Junior Koi Champion / 25 bu Goshiki / Chuichi Yamazaki.
