The 16th Chiba Prefecture Young Koi Show

55bu Kohaku/Tetsuya Takahashi

55bu Ginrin Kohaku/Takahide Yoshida

Under the warm spring sunshine amidst blooming cherry blossoms, the 16th Chiba Prefecture Young Koi Show was held at Tani Fish Farm (Narita City).
Three judges were invited from Niigata: Kazuya Sato (Best Koi Farm), Kaneyuki Hoshino (Yagoro Koi Farm), and Takumi Miya (Miya Tora Koi Farm). From a total of 158 entries, a 55-bu Kohaku owned by Tetsuya Takahashi was selected as the Grand Champion.
The award-winning koi, bred by Matsue Nishikigoi Center (Shimane), is a 2-year-old measuring 54 cm. Takahashi acquired it in March of the previous year at a sales event hosted by Tokyo Kanshogyo. After growing through autumn in his home pond, he entered the competition through Aoyagi Koi Farm (Asahi City).
The Sakura Champion, awarded to outstanding koi outside the “Gosanke” varieties, went to a 55-bu Ginrin Kohaku owned by Takahide Yoshida (bred and handled by Gonjiro). The judges praised it as a remarkable koi with excellent future potential.
On the second day, the skies remained overcast, and heavy rain poured during the afternoon award ceremony. Despite the weather, the two-day event was filled with excitement, featuring a raffle with luxurious prizes and a heated koi auction that drew enthusiastic participation from local hobbyists.
