The 24th Tokyo Branch Nishikigoi Show
April 12 and 13, 2025
Venue : Shinjuku Central Park Fan More Time Square
The show was held at Fanmore Time Square, formerly known as Water Square. Last year, when the show was held there for the first time, the location was very well received, so the members of the Tokyo Branch of the All Japan Nishikigoi Promotion Association must have been very excited on the day of the show.
As in previous years, the judging was conducted by a panel of leading figures in the Nishikigoi industry, including All Japan Nishikigoi Promotion Association Chairman Futoshi Mano (Dainichi Koi Farm Co., Ltd.), former Chairman Hisashi Hirasawa (Marudo Koi Farm Co., Ltd.), Vice Chairman Mitsunori Isa (Isa Koi Farm Co., Ltd.), Yoshikazu Otsuka (Otsuka Koi Farm), Hisato Nogami (Nogami Koi Farm). From among the 176 Koi entered, Shunzo Yoshiguchi’s 60bu Kohaku was selected as the Grand Champion. The Koi was bred by Dainichi Koi Farm Co., Ltd., measured 59 cm at the age of three, and was raised from fry by Koizumi Koi Farm before being purchased by Mr. Yoshiguchi.

60bu Hikari-moyo/Masao Motohashi
The Miyako Sakura Grand Award, for the best koi outside of the Gosanke, went to a 60bu Hikari-moyo (Doitsu Kujaku) submitted by Masao Motohashi. It was bred by Yagoro Koi Farm, sold by Tokyo Aquarium Fish Sales Co., Ltd., and handled by Ikebukuro Nishikigoi.
It rained from early morning on the second day, but there was a long line for the customary free Nishikigoi giveaway, which seems to be widely recognised as part of the event at this time of year.
